SubaruUHeaderAs vehicle technology becomes increasingly advanced, the need for highly skilled Automotive Technicians continues to increase.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates the number of qualified technicians needed nationwide to be around 780,000 by the year 2024, representing a 5% increase in demand. The opportunities for an educated Automotive Technician with the right qualifications are numerous. Every manufacturer and independent, quick service, and specialty shop are competing for the limited amount of resources out there.

As Subaru continues to grow at the fastest rate in the industry, the need for qualified technicians has never been higher.

How is Subaru responding to this issue? The answer to that is Subaru University (Subaru-U).

Subaru-U is designed to create a unique partnership between Subaru of America, the retailer, and high performing NATEF/AYES accredited secondary and post-secondary schools. Subaru's Web-Based Training (WBT) is integrated into the Morton College Automotive Technology Program curriculum.

Students are offered a majority of the entry-level training that is required of all Subaru technicians. Students can even choose to take a Subaru Level 2 Instructor Led Training Test-out and advance their training even further.

Students have the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge of Subaru vehicle systems, better preparing them for possible employment in any one of approximately 600 Subaru retailers nationwide. Students that are apprenticed at a Subaru retailers are also eligible for additional training through Subaru.
