Location

Building C, Room 276

While efforts to increase representation of Latinas/os in STEM have been ongoing at national and regional levels for at least the last forty years, the issue of underrepresentation continues to exist today in some fields. The importance of this underrepresentation for Latinas/os is heightened by the forecasted population growth for this population in the United States. This talk will provide an overview of the status of Latinas/os in the STEM Field, pertinent research on the factors for success of these students with a focus on the field of engineering, and strategies for facilitating success of these students in education.
