Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act
The Federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act, which became
effective October 28, 2002, requires Morton Community College to inform the campus community as to where to find
information on registered sex offenders.
Illinois law requires sex offenders to
register with their local police or sheriff, who place the names in a
state-wide database. In addition, Morton College requires that any
student who is a known sex offender to also register with Campus Police upon
registration at the College.
The Morton Police Department maintains a file of students who have registered as sex offenders. This information is provided under the mandates of the Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act (section 1601 of public law 106.386, enacted October 28, 2000.)
The State of Illinois Registered Sex Offenders
database can be accessed at www.isp.state.il.us.
If you need more information, contact your local law enforcement (police or sheriff)
office.
