DACA Statement

Article by: Dr. Stanley Fields

Morton College Community,

As you are aware, the current presidential administration has announced the decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, also known as DACA and has called on Congress to replace the policy with legislation. While we do not know the immediate effects of this change in immigration policy, Morton College stands by its commitment to the values of diversity, tolerance and fairness on our college campus. Every one of our students has the right to a safe and welcoming school environment where they feel valued and respected. We remain fully supportive of our DACA students and, indeed, ALL of our students, as they pursue their education at Morton College.

If you are experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression or just need someone to talk to about how you are feeling as a result of the end of this policy, please contact Jennifer Iniquez, MSW, Student Behavioral Health/ Disability Specialist at (708) 656-8000, ext. 2250 or Jennifer.iniquez@morton.edu

We pledge to continue doing all we can to make every student feel valued and welcome so that they can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

We will continue to monitor developments and share important updates.

Stan
