Morton College’s Career Planning and Placement Office is sponsoring a series of free workshops during the spring semester designed to help students make informed career choices and provide skills to enter today’s competitive workforce.

The series includes:

Get Hired: Rise to the Top & Get the Job! (NEW TIME & LOCATION)
Noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, Student Union
If you are graduating in May and working on your job search, "Get Hired: Rise to the Top & Get the Job!" is the seminar for you! Top company executives from UPS, Burke Beverage Inc., Vanguard Chicago/MacNeal Hospital and the U.S. Department of Labor will discuss key job search strategies, powerful skills to more effectively market yourself during your job search, both now and in the future. Also, learn about the hiring process and obtain valuable interviewing skills to get the job.

Get Noticed: Shine at the Job Fair
1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, Room 333B
At this workshop two weeks before Morton College’s annual Job Fair, discover what employers expect from students before, during and after a job fair. You will learn how to do research on employers, what to wear, what to bring with and how to successfully communicate with employers.

Using Social Media in Your Job Search
3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 9, Room 202D
Reports indicate more than 80 percent of hiring managers are using social media to post jobs and research potential candidates. Social media is an inexpensive, but effective way of identifying and screening potential employees. Learn how to use social media effectively while conducting a job search.
