Morton College Language Arts instructor and Collegian co-advisor Michele Mohr is the recipient of a scholarship to Borderzine’s fifth annual Dow Jones Multimedia Training Academy. Scholarship recipients are chosen from a number of applicant journalism instructors from Hispanic serving colleges and universities. The academy takes place at the University of Texas at El Paso, May 30 through June 5.

The Dow Jones Multimedia Training Academy provides participating educators with hands-on training on using video, audio and digital photography to help their students produce top-notch cutting-edge journalism.

“The instructors that participate in the Academy benefit greatly in several different areas” said Lourdes Cueva-Chacón, Academy Co-Director for this year. “They will be trained on state-of-the-art technology for producing and editing multimedia stories. They will be able to practice on the field going out to get their stories the same way digital journalists and journalism students do it today. They will also join a group of peers facing the same problems and challenges, and will be able to develop a network of support for an activity that is constantly changing.”
