Strategic Planning (2006-2011)

Annual Review of the Strategic Plan
Strategic initiatives are reviewed annually and updated appropriately.

Annual Operational Planning
Annual Planning is an inclusive goal-setting process involving all members of the college community.
Annually, at the unit level, objectives are determined that support the College mission and goals and align with strategic initiatives. Action plans to meet those objectives are developed with appropriate expected outcomes and measures. Annual plans are reviewed college-wide. Budget impact and potential revenue sources are incorporated into the process.

Assessment of Academic Achievement
Assessment of Academic Achievement is a faculty-driven and learning-centered process. Through assessment, evidence of teaching and student learning is documented and findings examined, achievements are acknowledged, and recommendations to improve learning are made and implemented.
Assessment activities are well defined, focused, and feasible. Additionally they provide useful information and contribute to the fulfillment of the College’s mission. Assessment outcomes are used to improve teaching and learning and the teaching and learning environments and to document academic accountability to constituents. Academy for Assessment of Student Learning
Morton College is a member of the Higher Learning Commission Academy for the Assessment of Student Learning. Click here for more information.

Budget Development
Budget Development begins as various revenue streams are examined by the appropriate fiscal officers of the College in order to evaluate any variances from the previous fiscal year. Taxes, tuition, state reimbursement and other streams are analyzed to establish a baseline for the subsequent budget.
At the unit level, a collaborative process of creating quantifiable goals is then undertaken and the results are written into Annual Plans. All areas are not zero-based therefore; each begins with the amounts from the previous year as a basis of initial consideration.

Focused Visit - October 20-21, 2008
