About US
The Morton College Campus Safety Department is commissioned with full police powers pursuant to Illinois Compiled Statutes Ch. 110 ILCS 805/3-42.1 and enforces all State and local laws. It is composed of professionally trained and state certified full and part time law enforcement officers and dispatch officers. We protect and serve approximately 6,000 students and staff members year round.
Our officers can be seen patrolling campus and the surrounding area on foot, in squad cars, or on Segway Personal Transporters, allowing them to interact with the community they proudly serve. Our officers assist motorists with vehicle lock-outs and battery jump-starts with the proper waivers signed.
Our Dispatch Officers and Police Officers are Law Enforcement Agency Data System (LEADS) certified, and Morton College Campus Safety maintains our LEADS terminal in accordance to state requirements.
We also serve as the location where Emergency Medical Services are initiated, notifying the Cicero Fire Department and directing medical/fire personnel to the area/party in need.
Additionally, an extensive Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) system records all activities on the interior and exterior of campus 24/7 and is monitored by our dispatch officers, allowing them to alert officers of any concerns.
