Applying for Financial Aid

Step by Step

  1. Collect the information necessary to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) such as:
  • Student’s social security number
  • Student’s drivers license
  • Student’s alien registration number, if not a U.S. citizen
  • Students and/or parents’ Federal tax return for the year (1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ,) and W-2 forms
  • Parent’s social security numbers and Date of Birth
  • Parents marital status (month/year)
  • Current mortgage statements for properties other than the family’s principal residence
  • Records of business; farm and assets (stocks, bonds, and other investments)
  1. Visit WWW.FAFSA.ED.GOV and submit your application. Don’t forget to include your school’s federal code. Morton College is 001728.
  1. After submitting your fafsa online you will receive a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) by mail within 10-14 business days.
  1. Visit or Call the financial aid office of the school you wish to attend to find out if any additional forms are needed. Morton College will mail you a letter a week from receiving your application indicating what additional forms are needed. Any additional forms requested by our office can be downloaded from our website at www.morton.edu.
  2. Make sure to keep in contact with your financial aid office for the latest updates concerning your financial aid status.
