Applying for Financial Aid
Step by Step
- Collect the information necessary to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) such as:
- Student’s social security number
- Student’s drivers license
- Student’s alien registration number, if not a U.S. citizen
- Students and/or parents’ Federal tax return for the year (1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ,) and W-2 forms
- Parent’s social security numbers and Date of Birth
- Parents marital status (month/year)
- Current mortgage statements for properties other than the family’s principal residence
- Records of business; farm and assets (stocks, bonds, and other investments)
- Visit WWW.FAFSA.ED.GOV and submit your application. Don’t forget to include your school’s federal code. Morton College is 001728.
- After submitting your fafsa online you will receive a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) by mail within 10-14 business days.
- Visit or Call the financial aid office of the school you wish to attend to find out if any additional forms are needed. Morton College will mail you a letter a week from receiving your application indicating what additional forms are needed. Any additional forms requested by our office can be downloaded from our website at www.morton.edu.
- Make sure to keep in contact with your financial aid office for the latest updates concerning your financial aid status.
