Start My Research

The Morton College Library provides a variety of resources for instruction, research and learning by students, faculty, staff and community residents. The over 50,000-volume collection includes: books, periodicals, college historical materials, audio-visual resources, music CD’s, microfiche and microfilm. An automated circulation system provides access to these resources and to the collections of academic, public and special libraries within the Metropolitan Library System (MLS) and throughout the state of Illinois.

How do I know if Morton College Library has the book I need?

Morton College Library has an Online Catalog, SWAN, where you can search for your materials. There you will be able to search the entire Morton Library as well as other Suburban Libraries.

How do I Create an Account for SWAN?

Go to SWAN and click on “My Account”. Enter your “Name” and your “Barcode” (you can find your barcode on the back of your Student ID). You will have to create a PIN. The PIN should be at least 5 characters long and is made of any combination of letters and/or numbers.

What do I do if Morton College Library has the book I need?

Click on the Title of the book you want. A brief description of the book will appear along with the “Call Number”. You will need the “Call Number” to search for the book. If you need help searching for the Call Number, see Reference or the Circulation Desk for help.

Find Articles

You can browse our collection of databases and articles by subject or title. You may also look up a journal title and see which database has the full-text of your journal.

The library has a substantial collection of research guides in a variety of subjects to help guide you to relevant sources. Browse the research guides.

Find Videos and DVDs

Search for videos. This search engine is dedicated exclusively to audio-visual materials like videos, DVDs, and CDs.
