How To Get A Library Card

Morton College Students, Staff & Faculty

Every student, staff and faculty member of Morton College may borrow material from the library. Material may be checked out only with a current Morton College ID with a barcode. Please go to Student Activities, Room 240C, to obtain an ID card. Then bring the ID along with a copy of your current schedule to the Circulation Desk to obtain a barcode.

Expiration dates:

All library cards expire at the end of the semester.

Community Members

Community members may view all the materials in the library. However, to borrow materials, they must use ILL through their SWAN account. Some restrictions apply:

  • No new material till after three years
  • No CDs
  • No VHS Tapes or DVDs
  • No folios
  • No nursing material
  • No periodicals

How to Renew Material

You can renew your material by:

  1. Bring your library card and material to the circulation desk to renew the items.
  2. You can call 708-656-8000 x321 and renew your items over the phone. You must have your library card and items with you when you call.

You must also be in good standing. If you have fines, you must pay that before you are allowed to renew any items.

Where to Return Material

Book drop boxes are in several locations so you can return Library materials without having to come into the Library. All Library materials, except reserve items, may be returned to any indoor book drop. Reserves must be returned directly to the Library. In addition, non-book items (tapes, DVDs, CDs, etc.) may not be placed in book drop. Please make sure all materials are securely placed in the book drops before walking away.

How to Update your Library Card

Each semester, bring your Morton College ID card and your new schedule to the Circulation desk to be updated.

Replacement Cards

Replacement cards may be obtained for a $1.00 fee.
