What is the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)?

WIOA is a federally funded grant program designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.

Services provided by WIOA include case management, career planning, job search and placement assistance. Individuals may also obtain vocational training funds in high demand occupations. Funding for training programs is dependent on the customer’s suitability for the training. Suitability for training is based on the intake process at your local Workforce Center.

What is an Individual Training Account (ITA) Voucher?

Those eligible to receive WIOA funds to be applied to training are awarded ITA vouchers which can be used only to pay for WIOA certified programs at approved schools.

How Do I Get an ITA voucher?

Dislocated workers or low-income adults who meet WIOA eligibility requirements may be eligible to receive an ITA through WIOA funding. To determine if you are eligible to receive an ITA for training, contact your local American Job Center.

American Job Centers offer a professional environment for job seekers to find employment; to help businesses find pre-screened job ready candidates; and to assist people who are employed explore potential career options. Each center has knowledgeable staff that provides assistance and access to essential tools and resources. All services are free.

What does WIOA ITA voucher cover?

Training funds cover tuition, books and fees. Voucher amounts vary, up to $8,000, depending on the total training cost and occupation you are training for.

Approved WIOA Programs at Morton College

Morton College is a WIOA Certified Training Provider and offers over 20 career certificates and associate degrees to which ITA funds can be applied. These programs are part of Morton College’s regular catalog and are not specifically designed for WIOA participants.
