Paramedic Program Applicant Checklist

Fall 2026 Application Cycle

Use this checklist to prepare your application materials for the Paramedic Program. Please do not submit the original checklist with your application materials.

After the information session, submit a copy of this checklist and your proof of residency to the Office of Admissions.

If you did not attend an information session, email all required application documents to Healthcarecareers@morton.edu.

Application submission period: November 17, 2025 – May 21, 2026

Application Steps

  • Apply to Morton College

    After you apply, write down your Morton College ID number. You will need it for your application materials.

  • Submit a copy of this checklist and proof of residency to the Office of Admissions.

    You may also email these materials to the Health Recruiter at healthcarecareers@morton.edu.

    Deadline: May 21, 2026

  • Applicants must pass the pre-admission entrance exam and assessment.

    Written exam dates:
    June 8 and June 9, 2026

    Practical exam dates:
    June 10 and June 11, 2026

    Exam times are to be determined. Please keep your schedule clear on these dates to avoid conflicts.

  • Submit one of the following to the Office of Admissions:

    Official high school transcript

    Official high school equivalency transcript, such as GED, HiSET, or TASC

    Official foreign transcript report that includes a high school equivalency statement

    The graduation date must be listed.

    Deadline: 4:30 p.m. CST, May 28, 2026

  • Submit two letters of recommendation that describe your strengths and character.

    Letters must be submitted on official letterhead or sent from a work email address, such as @morton.edu or @triton.edu.

    Letters may not be sent from personal email addresses such as @gmail.com or @yahoo.com.

    Deadline: 4:30 p.m. CST, May 28, 2026

  • Submit proof of your current Illinois Department of Public Health EMT-Basic license.

    Deadline: 4:30 p.m. CST, May 28, 2026

  • Submit your current American Heart Association Basic Life Support provider CPR card.

    Your CPR card cannot expire while you are in the program. It must remain valid for the entire program.

Optional Items

  • You may submit a letter from an employer or supervisor verifying your experience as an EMT-Basic.

    A minimum of six months of experience is preferred.

  • If you live outside of Cicero, Berwyn, Stickney, Lyons, McCook, or Forest View, but work full-time in one of those districts, you may be eligible to submit an in-district employment verification form.

    Full-time employment is defined as 35 or more hours per week.

    Final in-district status is contingent upon review by the Registrar and verification by the program committee.

  • Complete Post-Acceptance Requirements

    After conditional acceptance to the Paramedic Program, students must complete the following:

    • Background check

    • Immunization verification with blood titer lab results

    • Personal health insurance verification
