Music Production
Music Production Certificate (MPC)
This curriculum prepares students for entry-level employment as a sound engineering technician or an audio-visual technician. Sound engineering and audio/visual technicians work in a variety of different business and nonprofit settings, including film, television, video, and theatre enterprises, universities and colleges, sound recording studios, and religious organizations. The Certificate in Music Production includes a combination of required music technology and general education courses, as well as elective music theory and practices courses, designed to prepare students for employment in organizations which use music or sound for commercial or operational purposes. The program includes both theoretical instruction and practical recording studio experience on the Morton College campus as well as internship affiliations in area business or nonprofit settings.

Follow the steps below to sign up for applied music lessons:

Visit the applied music professor webpage to review professor bios, areas of expertise, and the instruments or voice areas with which each professor is familiar.
Use this information to identify the professor you would like to study with during the semester.

Decide which lesson option is right for you:
30-minute lessons
Students receive a total of 8 hours of individual instruction per semester.1-hour lessons
Students receive a total of 16 hours of individual instruction per semester.

Contact your academic advisor and let them know you would like to sign up for applied music lessons.
Be prepared to share:
The professor you would like to study with
Whether you want 30-minute or 1-hour lessons

Your advisor will help you register for the appropriate applied music lesson course.
Available instructors will appear as registration options. If an instructor is already fully booked, the course may be placed on hold and may not be available for additional students.

After you are registered, email your selected professor to arrange your lesson schedule.
You and your professor will work together to find a mutually agreeable day and time for your lessons during the semester.
