Student Complaint and Grievance Procedures/Appeals

Students have the right to submit complaints/concerns and/or appeal grade decisions and/or dismissal from the program. Students will not suffer any retaliation from filing a complaint against any area of the institution.

Students are encouraged to first attempt to address any concerns with their instructor or other program faculty/staff directly. If this is not feasible or if the situation remains unresolved, then the student is encouraged to report their concerns to the PTA Program Director. The PTA Program Director can be reached by telephone at 708-656-8000, ext. 2380 or by email at cara.bonick@morton.edu to set up an appointment.

When this is not feasible students should follow the procedures outlined in the Morton College Catalog under category of “Academic Information and Campus Regulations”: “Student Complaint and Grievance Procedures” and “Grade Appeal Procedures”

If student complaints are not addressed, students can contact ICCB. Please visit the Morton College website for more details.

*If a complaint is regarding clinical education, students are encouraged to first attempt to address any concerns with their CI, SCCE/CCCE, and/or ACCE directly. If this is not feasible, the student is encouraged to follow the steps/procedure detailed above.

Complaints or Concerns Which Fall Outside of Due Process

All complaints will be handled with the appropriate level of confidentiality. Individuals with concerns related to the PTA Program or its graduates should first direct their complaint to the PTA Program Director. The PTA Program Director can be reached by telephone at 708-656-8000, ext. 2380 or by email at cara.bonick@morton.edu to set up an appointment.

If the concern is not resolved, or if the complaint involves the Program Director, it should be submitted to the Dean of Health Careers. The Dean of Health Careers can be reached by telephone at 708-656-8000, ext. 1361 or by email at cynthia.young@morton.edu to set up an appointment.

All complaints will be formally documented, including the anticipated resolution, and maintained on file at the institution.

Complaints regarding Accreditation of this program should be addressed to the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. This Commission is located at 3030 Potomac Ave. Suite 100, Alexandria, VA 22305-3085. No retaliation will occur by Morton College or the PTA Program due to filing a complaint.

The general public is invited to raise concerns or complaints at the monthly meetings held by the Morton College Board. Board meetings and agenda are announced on the Morton College website at: https://www.morton.edu/board-of-trustees.
