When did the 2024 FAFSA become available?

The FAFSA became available on December 31, 2023. You are encouraged to complete your FAFSA as soon as possible to maximize your financial aid eligibility. For those who had trouble filing, we encourage you to complete the FAFSA now.

When will Morton College receive my official FAFSA information?

Federal Student Aid (FSA) will not transmit FAFSA information to institutions until the late March to early April.

What should current Morton College students do?

If you haven't filled it out, file the FAFSA as soon as possible. We understand filing the FAFSA has been a difficult process for everyone, even students who have gone through the process in previous years. If you have questions, visit your financial aid advisorr or email us at financial.aid@morton.edu.

When will my financial aid offer be available?

Morton College’s Financial Aid office plans to ramp up our efforts to prepare financial aid offers for students in a very compressed timeframe this year due to government delays. We are committed to turning things around for students as quickly as humanly possible. We are here to help you through the process. We anticipate processing applications beginning late April to Early May.

What if my parent(s) don't have a social security number?

The U.S Department of Education announced on February 20 that it will resolve the issue, in the "first half" of March, that is preventing FAFSA submission for students with a parent that does not have a social security number. While families in this situation wait for the SSN issue to be resolved in early March, we encourage to attend our FAFSA workshops for assistance.

What is your SAI?

The Student Aid Index (SAI) is an eligibility index number that is used by your college or university’s financial aid office to determine how much financial aid you are eligible for. When you fill out the FAFSA, you will provide all the information that is needed to calculate this number. You can use this tool to get an estimate of how much aid you can receive for 2024-25 award year. This tool estimates the Student Aid Index (SAI) for the 2024–25 award year. This estimate doesn’t reflect the changes—accounting for inflation—to the SAI calculation approved in early 2024. For most students, this tool will provide a close estimate of their federal student aid.

What is the Pell Grant limits?

$7395 maximum award minus SAI, rounded to nearest $5. Some may qualify for a minimum award. For more information click here.

What are federal loan limits?

Up to $5500 for dependent and $9500 for independent first-year students may be offered in subsidized and/or unsubsidized loans. Additional loan increases may apply for students beginning with 30 credits or more. For more information click here.
