Associate in Arts Degree Math Course Sequence

This document is to help students better understand what math courses they should take to complete an AA degree at Morton College.

An AA degree is for students who plan to pursue a Bachelor’s of Arts degree at a four year university.

Examples of BA majors include:

  • Humanities (English, History, Foreign Languages, Philosophy, …)
  • Music
  • Criminal Justice
  • Political Science
  • Education
  • Business
  • And more

In order to complete an AA degree students must complete 4 credit hours of college level math (math courses that are numbered 102 or higher).

Students should meet with a Student Success Coach to decide on which course sequence is best for them and receive placement into their first math course.

Which sequence is best for a student is determined by the type of course required by the four year university the student plans to attend and their planned major.
