Associate in Engineering Science Degree Course Sequence
These placement options are for students who plan to major in Engineering at a four year college or university.
The length of a course sequence is determined by the placement of the student. Students are placed based on their high school math course results, college or dual credit math course results, ACT or SAT scores, or their score on a placement test.

This placement option is for students:
- who have been placed into MAT 080 -OR-
- who did not receive Cs or better in their final math class in high school -OR-
- who have not taken a math class in 5 or more years and do not use math on a regular basis.
Students at this placement level need a refresher of math fundamentals, such as, positive and negative numbers, fractions, decimals, and operations on these numbers.
This placement option is for students:
- who have been placed into MAT 093 -OR-
- who received Cs in their final math class in high school -OR-
- who have not taken a math class in 5 or more years but use math on a somewhat regular basis.
Students at this placement level have basic math skills but need a refresher of basic algebra, such as, solving linear equations and inequalities and performing operations on polynomials.
This placement option is for students:
- who have been placed into MAT 097 -OR-
- who received Bs in their final math class in high school -OR-
- who have not taken a math class in 5 or more years but use math on a regular basis.
Students at this placement level have basic algebra skills but need a refresher of more complicated algebra skills, such as factoring polynomials and performing operations on rational and radical expressions.
This placement option is for students:
- who have been placed into MAT 105 or above -OR-
- who received As in their final math class in high school -OR-
- who have not taken a math class in 5 or more years but use algebra on a regular basis.
Students at this level have strong algebra skills.
