Morton College Public Safety Communication

(Cicero, IL) On Thursday, November 14, at approximately 12:10 p.m., campus police were alerted of a student with potential firearms in his vehicle. Officers conducted an investigation on-site and located the vehicle with weapons. Campus police acted swiftly and detained the student. The Cicero Police Department, who works mutually with our campus police, arrived on the scene to place the student in custody and secure the weapons. To ensure the safety of the college community, a subsequent search of the entire campus was conducted and revealed no weapons. As a continuing proactive effort, random searches will be conducted on our campus throughout the year, and additional campus police will be present. We would like to thank the college community member that brought the matter to the attention of campus police. That is an excellent example of the ongoing Morton College and Campus Police campaign, β€œSee Something, Say Something.” As always, we are committed to the safety of our staff, students, and the surrounding college community.
