Associate in Applied Science Degree - Course Sequence 3

These course sequences are for the following AAS degrees:

  • Automotive
  • Computer Aided Drafting
  • Fire Science Technology
  • Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning
  • Welding

The length of a course sequence is determined by the placement of the student. Students are placed based on their high school math course results, college or dual credit math course results, ACT or SAT scores, or their score on a placement test.

Placement Option 1
This placement option is for students:

  • who have been placed into MAT 080 -OR-
  • who did not receive Cs or better in their final math class in high school -OR-
  • who have not taken a math class in 5 or more years and do not use math on a regular basis.

Students at this placement level need a refresher of math fundamentals, such as, positive and negative numbers, fractions, decimals, and operations on these numbers.

Placement Option 2
This placement option is for students:

  • who have been placed into MAT 100 or higher -OR-
  • who received Cs in their final math class in high school -OR-
  • who have not taken a math class in 5 or more years but use math on a somewhat regular basis.

Students at this placement level have basic math skills but need a refresher of basic algebra, such as, solving linear equations and inequalities and performing operations on polynomials.
