Placement and Proficiency Exams

Placement Exams

The Testing Center administers computerized ACCUPLACER exams in English and math to measure current skills and to determine appropriate course placement. All students are required to complete placement testing if they are:

  • Enrolling in an English course
  • Enrolling in a math course
  • Pursuing a degree or certificate program at Morton College where English or math is required

Before testing, students must complete the College’s New Student Information Form (PDF) and submit it to the Office of Admission and Records.

Students are allowed two (2) attempts to achieve minimum exam scores before beginning their course sequence.

The first exam is free, but there is a $10.00 retesting fee to retake the placement exam.

All test scores are valid for two (2) years from the date of administration. For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact the Academic Advising Center (Building B, 1st floor) or call (708) 656-8000, Ext. 2250.

Interested students may download an ACCUPLACER Study Guide (PDF) that includes sample questions from MATH & ENG.
